It has been far too long since I last wrote! Here is a quick update and prayer point for each of the last eight weeks.
Week 1. We kicked off mission with an explosion of blue hoodies. After a little hiccup with setting up for the first event, logistics got subsequently smoother each day!
Week 2. Engaging the campus on topics of sex and the place of religion in society, praise God for many faithful voices, and particularly for Greg Lee, who modelled humility and love as he answered questions.
Week 3. William Lane Craig was the drawcard that packed the great hall with over 500 students to start the week! Rory Shiner followed up with six engaging talks that explored the meaning of the resurrection.
Week 4. As we transitioned from the heightened mission season into regular activities, we had made contact with a very large number of visitors. Pray that the follow-up of almost 200 visitor cards continues steadfastly even now.
Week 5. This semester I started leading a training course called Getting Into Evangelism, which was very helpful for me as a student but a new challenge to lead as a staffworker. Pray for good preparation and that the students would be encouraged and strengthened in their faith and witness.
Week 6. After a crash-course in Bible storytelling at our staff meeting, I've been trying to put this new skill to use in my small groups. It has been fun to memorise Luke 15 and Mark 15 for different small groups. Praise God for the opportunity to learn new things and to be innovative in the way we serve others.
Week 7. In early December, after a national conference called National Training Event, the EU will be sending sixteen teams of students and staffworkers to churches around the country to see church in different contexts, to serve with what they have, and to be encouraged to be part of their churches. Pray that many students take up this great opportunity and that it opens their eyes and hearts to serve well.
Week 8. The EU and each of the faculties held an Annual General Meeting to celebrate God's work over the last year and to elect new student leaders. Pray that this year's teams end well by caring for people as they hand over, and pray that next year's teams are godly examples in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.
