Supporters phone calls are not the only kind of phone calls though. I have also been calling students to invite them to serve this year. There are lots of good students to chat to, so lots of conversations to be had! I'm hoping lots of students will take up the opportunity to serve as small group leaders, as one-to-one disciplers, and as cross-cultural witnesses.
I've also taken on leadership of our church kid's club, SPLASH! which is an exciting job for me this year. But recruiting leaders for SPLASH! means more phone calls! I'm hoping to expand both the leadership team and the ministry as we reach more kids and share the gospel with them.
Looking ahead to March and the start of the university year, there will be only more phone calls to make as new students get connected with the EU and find out about Bible studies, Public Meetings, and opportunities for training and service.
I find making phone calls quite tiring. At the moment I will typically spend three hours or so in the morning making phone calls to supporters, and then I need to rest for the remainder of the afternoon! Usually that means I find some less exhausting work to do in the afternoon, like answering emails, talking to students, or blogging (ta da!). This is working quite well for me as an energy-management strategy. I use my best hours to do the most intensive work, which so far has been rewarding because I've made lots of progress, and allow myself to recover before repeating it all again.
For your prayers:
- Praise God for sustaining us, and for helping me to continually find enough rest and wisdom to spend my energy well.
Thank God for the generosity of many supporters.
- Pray for continued fruit in conversations with old and new supporters.
- Pray for many students to step up in service and leadership, and pray that many come to our Leadership Summit in two weeks' time.
- Pray for the ministry of SPLASH! kid's club and for new leaders to join the team.
